A Western student wearing a Chinese martial arts uniform may seem incongruent.
However, consider the fact that a tai chi student - of any nationality - is
essentially learning to move in much the same fashion as one another.
All tai chi students comport themselves in an Asian way.
Throughout Asia it is common to see Asian people wearing a Western business
suit, shirt and tie.
But no one thinks it odd.
Many Western women wear a cheongsam despite having radically different
physiques, body movement habits and none of the grace of a Chinese woman.
Are they considered odd?
